AN EVESHAM opticians has continued its support of the local food bank Caring Hands in the Vale by donating emergency food supplies for those in need in the local community.

The Bridge Street Specsavers store has collected numerous donations of non-perishable food items from customers, such as dried pasta, rice, tins and jars of food, biscuits, soups and other long-life items, which were sorted into emergency food bundles by volunteers.

Store director Amy Liau said: "We are absolutely delighted by the generosity of our local community. We have been in partnership with Caring Hands for a few months now and it has been a great success so far. More than 10 crates of food have been put together from our latest donations, which is a great achievement."

Established in 2003, Caring Hands in the Vale is an outreach project that seeks to relieve poverty by supporting local people in need. The charity relies on donations and distributes hundreds of emergency food parcels throughout the year.

Community worker for Caring Hands Diane Bennett added: "We were delighted to be approached by Specsavers a few months ago, and even more so now seeing so many donations from the store. We have been able to distribute several parcels from the food we have received and I know there will be more to come. Thank you Specsavers Evesham.’
