LOCAL businesses are being sought to mentor community enterprises in Worcestershire.

The initiative will form part of Worcestershire Community Micro-Enterprise Project's Community Connect event to be held at Worcester Cathedral Chapter House on Thursday, February 18 from 2pm-6pm. Admission is free and the project is being run by Community Catalysts in partnership with Worcestershire County Council.

Among the businesses attending with be Fundamentals CIC of Kidderminster, a new and emerging micro-enterprise using the principles of hairdressing to help people with disabilities to learn skills in a fun way, which was launched last year by Karen Arrowsmith.

Councillor Sheila Blagg, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for adult social care, said: "We aim to stimulate the development and growth of micro-enterprises within the health and social care sector – just like Karen's business Fundamentals and we offer support across the county. We have been able to offer Karen support with information on policies and procedures and with marketing as well as access to a wide range of funded training through Worcestershire County Council.

“Micro-enterprises offer support to more than 1,000 local people in Worcestershire. If you are interested to hear how you or someone you know can receive support or if you would like to help any of these groups please do also come along to the event at Worcester Cathedral to find out more."
