DADS across the county are being urged to pull on their blue Y-fronts again this summer to take part in a charity run around Worcester racecourse.

The Go Dad Run fun event is once more being backed by wealth management company Sanlam UK, which has offices in The Tything after incorporating well known local firm English Mutual in 2012.

The charity run is the brain child of World Champion and Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson and is a series of 5k and 10k fun runs for men and boys which seeks to raise awareness of men’s health issues and to raise funds in particular for Prostate Cancer UK. The series has grown considerably and in the Father's Day month of June will be held in six UK cities: Worcester, London, Bristol, Cardiff, Sunderland and on the Isle of Man.

Giles Cross, head of marketing & PR Sanlam UK, said: “We’re really proud of our association with Go Dad Run. While prostate cancer, on the face of it, only affects men we mustn’t forget that many of those men have wives, children, sisters, mothers and aunts whose lives can be turned upside down by this awful illness. As an organisation we are focused on helping people live the best lives possible and, through this sponsorship, we believe that we can help make a difference; through education, through raising awareness and through the removal of stigma. We may not be able to prevent the illness but we can put an end to good men dying needlessly. That is our goal.”
