Becky Smith, our touchline reporter, gave the following account of our opening game against Holywell “First half – 1-0 to Holywell. Oh dear Holywell just scored again. Ryan Ince is injured but is bravely carrying on. Final score is 2-0 to Holywell."

Beacon won the House Netball competition, which was hastily arranged as the astro was too dangerous for Hockey.

Here’s more from our busy reporter Becky Smith… “In the first few minutes of the game Beth scored the first goal. Seconds later we scored again, but this time it was Helena. Beth has scored again, and again. Helena has scored another, and another! Half time and it is 6-0 to Beacon and I’m off to the Dodgeball as it’s warmer inside!”

The final score of this game was Beacon 11 – 0 Holywell. In the second game Beacon beat Midsummer 13 -5, and defeated Jubilee 9-4 to secure victory in the tournament. Congratulations to all girls involved. Olivia Edwards, a key player in Beacons success, was quoted afterwards saying “we won, we won, we won”. Thank you to Olivia for that insight in to the day’s events.

The last comment from the ever busier Becky Smith was to say how VERY yellow Mrs Buck’s hat and scarf was. Becky, are you surprised?

Congratulations also to the Dodgeball team, who came second to a very strong Midsummer team.

Finally the Beacon blog editorial team would like to wish everyone at John Masefield High School, and indeed everyone in Ledbury, a very peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2009.
