After the show....

After the show....

9:16am Thursday 14th May 2009

Phew! I feel as if I have just come up for air after a long dive underwater. I am in need of a little time just sitting on the beach in the sun to regain my energy and accustom myself to being on dry land again!

LIFE has suddenly got very, very busy indeed. In the last week, the hard landscaping for the garden has been finished.

Undaunted by the rain

10:03am Monday 27th April 2009

Do you remember Friday [April 17]? It seems a long time ago now, doesn’t it? But, if you can recall that day, you may also remember that it rained heavily for most of the day, especially over the Three Counties Showground, where my contractor, Kevin Styles, and his team were laying a foundation for my stone circle in all the wet.

I’m pressing forward tying up all the lose ends for my show garden. The canvas for the windbreak is here now and ready to be cut and shaped to size. The wooden supporting poles are on their way too and all they now need are some decorative caps to finish them off. So progress is being made on this feature!

IT'S been a very busy week, one way and another. It's time to pull all the disparate threads of the garden together and order what is needful so that the whole garden comes together in early May.

Preparations well under way for the show

Daffodils are starting to bloom

9:40am Monday 9th March 2009

LAST Friday, the gathering of the C B bees (the fledging garden designers going for the Chris Beardshaw scholarship, as we are known in the Three Counties office) finally took place after being postponed twice due to the wrong sort of snow.

Water entertainment

Pulmonaria

10:33am Thursday 26th February 2009

I just thought it would be nice to have some leaping jets of water here and there over the low planting, landing in the gravel trails with which it is interspersed.
