  IT is sad that Charles Eden (Your Letters, August 31) besmirches his otherwise reasonable campaign by encouraging illegal, surreptitious and dangerous actions. Such support will lose him sympathy and harm his efforts. read more

• Is this justice?

  WHAT to do about young people who commit violent crimes raises many difficult questions and no easy answers. They do so much harm, often with little or apparently no thought, that it can be tempting to treat them with some of their own medicine, and to do so in the belief that one is doing justice. Judges, when sentencing, have to take account of how "ordinary" people feel - but they also have to look at the likely consequences of a sentence, including the future conduct of the offender. read more

• Vicious attack

  I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with every word that Susan Key wrote (Your Letters, August 24) in her response to Mr Geffen's letter, headed Not justice, but revenge' (Your Letters, August 17). read more

• Three hour trip

  I WOULD also like to add my disgust at the changing of the no 41/43 bus service to a two hourly service from one hour. read more

• March thanks

  Thank you to all who contributed toward the preparations, welcome and accommodation for the Cut the Carbon' marchers as they walked from Worcester through Malvern and Colwall to Ledbury last Saturday. For those unable to stay for the Climate Talk activity they missed a real treat. Perry Walker has devised a thought provoking game that could be used by any community group to explore the issues of climate change, available via email from email perry.walker@neweconomics.org. read more
