Letters

  • Effects felt long term

With reference to the comments made by Stephen Crisp, of Shaw Healthcare, (Ledbury Reporter, September 7) about the future of the elderly residents at Leadon Bank Residential Home, a number of people in 2004/05 formed a group to the campaign against the new development. read more

  • Thanks for supporting Ernie

I would like to thank everyone who supported the Malvern Chase Brass Band for Ernie's Concert' last week. We had an extremely successful evening and raised a fantastic £524.60 for Support Dogs. read more

  • Not responsible

I do not wish to engage in a tedious contest of recrimination with The Rev. Peter Furber about the campaign to save the Country Outdoor Education Centre in Snowdonia, but his outburst (Your Letters, September 7) cannot be allowed to be the last word. read more

  • Being talked up

WITH reference to CSOs having an impact on crime (Malvern Gazette, September 7), I note most of their time is spent "on foot and talking to people in the community". read more

  • Good riddance

LIKE Martin Read (Your Letters, September 14), I am normally very much in favour of hedges. However, I am extremely pleased that the hedge at the front of the library is to go. read more

  • On your bikes

Well done to Malvern Hills District Council for taking advantage of the Tour of Britain going through the centre of Malvern to put on a Get Cycling' event at the weekend. We can't all be, or want to be, professional racing cyclists, but many of us could get on a bike to pop along to the local shops or go a mile or two to work or school. OK, it's not the flattest area and some roads are unpleasant at peak times, so a bit of extra help would be useful. read more

  • Worse footprint

I HAVE recently returned to Malvern to find that both the bus services that serve our area have been severely reduced. The "town" service has been reduced to a derisory two hour frequency, which is a disgraceful level of service for a large section of a town of close to 30,000 inhabitants. In addition the once high quality 44 service to Worcester, which for most of the day had a 15 minute interval, has been split into alternating loops, that in effect only offer a 30 minute service for a large portion of the town. read more

  • Dump the phone

IN response to Dr N Hamilton's comments (Your Letters, September 14) regarding the mobile phone mast in Colwall, I totally support his view regarding the numerous directives from central government to local authorities in respect of planning applications. read more

  • Helpful friends

I would like to thank everyone who supported my three small coffee mornings. With all your support and generous donations, I raised £492. read more
