I READ with interest the letter by Mr D McCarry headed Dirt tracks' (Your Letters, August 17). I and other residents of West Malvern Road have reported on numerous occasions over a period of time, the breaking up of the road surface, producing pot holes, and stones being thrown about by passing traffic into the path of pedestrians and young children walking on the adjoining pavement. However, the last few days has seen white marker paint put down only, I must say, on certain areas of the breaking surface. Is this to warn us away or we wait in anticipation as to what, or not, might happen? read more

I HAVE just read the letter headed Dirt tracks' (Your Letters, August 17). Yes, I agree, Abbey Road does have a bad surface but my nomination for worst stretch of road has to be Hanley Road. The stretch from the junction with Green Lane up to the junction with Wells Road must take some beating. You spend most of your time trying to avoid the lumps of ironwork stuck up in places, and the awful uneven surface. My poor little older car is getting shaken to bits, as I use this stretch of road often. Then we get onto the Wyche Road, once again ironwork stuck up in places and holes. read more
