• The sound of summer

  MUSIC for a Summer Evening is the title of a concert by the Greenwood Voices at the Church of the Ascension, Somers Park Avenue, Malvern Link, on Saturday, July 14. The concert will be conducted by Margaret Edgar and will start at 7.30pm. read more

• No gimmicks, just the music

  NO wigs, no make-up and no moustache' is the mantra of a Queen tribute band due to perform in Malvern next Saturday. read more

• Public brave forecasts

  A BRASS band which performed in Priory Park on Sunday has publicly thanked hardy Malvern people. Despite forecasts of heavy showers, many people turned out and enjoyed a warm dry afternoon listening to the Bell Inn Brass Band, from Cleobury Mortimer. The band played a mixture of traditional brass band fare and more contemporary music. The set included Elgar's Chanson de Matin and Land of Hope and Glory, to mark the composer's 150th anniversary. The concert was one of the Bands In The Park series organised by Malvern Town Council. This Sunday, the Band of the Gloucestershire Constabulary is performing at 2.30pm. read more

  WHEN City of Birming-ham Symphony Orches-tra played its inaugural concert in 1920, the conductor was none other than Malvern's own Edward Elgar. read more
