  HAVING just returned from the Freedom of the Town ceremony to honour HMS Ledbury, I write to say it is unfortunate that the town could not present itself in a better light. read more

  I wholeheartedly agree with Christine Shepherd's comments about the name of the new health centre. Surely a much more appropriate name for this monstrosity would be White Elephant! read more

  Malvern will be acquiring a reputation for flat-footed name choices. read more

  Christine Shepherd, in criticising the name of Prospect View for the new health centre, obviously lacks local knowledge! read more

• Memorial study

  I AM putting together basic information about the 82 men who died during the First World War and are recorded on the Ledbury War Memorial. read more

  THROUGH your pages, I would like to thank two lovely girls who came to my rescue last Friday morning. I did not get their names but know they are both pupils at Dyson Perrins School. read more

  The many teachers, pupils and parents who know the benefits of the Malvern Outdoor Centre will be concerned at the direction in which the county council may be heading. read more

• Support needed to build homes

  The figures released by trade union GMB on the low-level of house building in Malvern Hills (Gazette, July 6), coincides with the Prime Minister announcing plans for thousands of new homes. read more

• Lidl's open, what about the housing?

  As part of the Lidl development (occupied before Christmas 2006) in Malvern Link, there were supposed to be provided several units of affordable accommodation. read more

• Savings outweigh the cost

  IN response to Mr Paddock's letter (Gazette, July 6) regarding the commercial vehicle and trailer permit scheme, there would appear to be a number of misconceptions regarding the scheme. read more
