HAVING given up using the car for local journeys I am reminded again how unfriendly are many of Malvern's pavements and footpaths. I wonder if there is a single road down which a couple walking side by side - either with or without a pram - can pass without obstruction from overhanging hedges and trees, or being fouled by dripping gutters or pigeons as alongside Exchange Building. Surely the Council/Highway Authority should remind property owners of their obligation not to obstruct or hinder the use of boundary footpaths, failing which these may be cleared by contractors on a recharge basis. read more

I WAS born in Malvern 64 years ago and I would be grateful if through your newspaper you could put me in contact with any one who knew me. I used to live in West Malvern until the age of 16 when I joined the army. I attended West Malvern infants school / junior school and after passing my 11 plus I then went to Hanley Castle Grammar school. Some names which I can remember from my younger days are Maurice Lavin and Derek Everest who were both school pals. I now live in Farnborough in Hampshire. And since having a couple of strokes two years ago I now am semi-retired and work as a lollipop man at a local school. I can be contacted by email on colin4343@tiscali.co.uk. read more
