    I am very glad to read of the stay of execution for the plane trees on Belle Vue. Their size should not be a matter of concern - many Greek villages have an ancient plane tree of enormous girth at their centre, and when on a guided trek on the island of Thassos, we were told that finding a plane tree signalled a good place to establish a settlement, because they always grow where there's a source of water. With the Malvina fountain alongside them, our trees are well placed indeed. read more
