    EVERY increase in the population of Malvern will inevitably add to the inconvenience already being caused to existing residents by local motor traffic congestion, and to the overload on community resources such as waste disposal, schools, medical services and parking. read more

  • Joint Core Strategy

    I HAVE just read the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy, and I must echo the heading on the letter from John Kirton "Why should these (Whitehall) people tell us what to do?" Any proposal suggesting vast and permanent changes to our environment by concreting over parts of the Vale of Evesham and AONB areas should have a detailed assessment of the need for housing in this area, and a Whitehall edict from a government that does not know whether there are 500,000 or 1,500,000 new immigrants and estimated that maybe 1,000 people would come from part of Eastern Europe only to guess that the figure was 10 to 100 times bigger does not deserve attention until careful assessment is done. The Core Strategy suggests that, for instance, Malvern and Evesham may deserve conservation, but another suggestion is that Droitwich, Malvern and Eversham are prime targets for massive development, ignoring the severe limitations in the road system in Malvern, restricted as it is by the Hills. read more

  • Parking restrictions

    I WAS saddened that the Ledbury Reporter has not contained a letter in support of our elderly residents in Queens Court (Ledbury Reporter, December 7). Should they need signatures in support of asking Herefordshire Council for parking restrictions to ensure they do not suffer this sort of inconvenience again, I am willing to provide one. read more
