Ladies shave together

Family relationships can be hair-raising experiences at the best of times, but a trio of South Norwood sisters are taking it one step further by publicly shaving their heads for charity.

The sisters Patricia and Mary Ward and Bernadette Boles decided the time was right to lose their locks after their other sister, Bridget was diagnosed with lymphonic cancer last December.

With all money raised going to the Apoastic Anaemia Trust, Patricia said: "She's been through such a lot and we felt this was one way we could help her."

Refusing to let the recent cold weather put her off, Patricia explained: "I'm going to buy myself a nice warm woolly hat."

She said the shave would have been sooner but Bridget had got married earlier this month, adding, understandably: "We wanted to look presentable."

The shave will take place in The Beehive pub, Woodside Road, at 5pm on February 24. Anyone wanting to sponsor the trio can contact them on 07818 467 844 or 07979 333 250.
