Widening continues

RESIDENTS along the Pepperhill to Bean stretch of the A2 saw more roadworks set up on Monday as the next phase of work started on the road.

The roadworks, part of the first stage of widening between Bean and Ebbsfleet, will see the A2 reduced to a maximum of three lanes and the 50mph speed limit, already in place east of Pepperhill, extended.

More than 110,000 vehicles per day, use this stretch of road which suffers from considerable congestion particularly during rush hour but the Highways Agency hopes improvements will be seen when the work is completed in late 2004.
