CAROLS and popular Christmas hits have been getting older people into the festive spirit across the county thanks to a staff choir from Worcester-based Sanctuary Group.

Singers from the housing and care provider have been touring Worcestershire, performing for residents at Sanctuary care homes.

The group also performed two concerts for staff at Sanctuary’s Worcester office on Castle Street, which helped raise money for Maggs Day Centre, the Worcester staff charity of the year.

The tour, which included renditions of traditional carols and pop classics, took in eight of Sanctuary’s care homes, including Hastings Residential Care Home in Malvern,Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, Stourport, and Regent Residential Care Home, St Johns.

Ravenhurst resident Doris Baker, 92, said: “The singers were lovely and they sounded just perfect. The songs they sung reminded me of my childhood days and the many happy Christmas times I have shared.”

The choir also visited Warmstry Court retirement living and Noble House extra care scheme in Worcester.

Choir leader Maisie Jenkinson said: “The Christmas tour is always something we look forward to and many weeks of hard work have gone into ensuring the performances are a success.

“At such a busy time of the year it is a great opportunity to spend time with our residents and wish them a happy Christmas.”
