STUDENTS from a Malvern ballet school have been chosen to perform with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in its new project, Cinderella Dreams.

Ballet Malvern students Amelie Cobban, aged 12, Caitlin Fisher, 12, Victoria Sloan-Kirton, 16, and Theresa Thomas, 9, were handpicked from an audition of nearly 200 youngsters to take part in the project.

Cinderella Dreams will see 60 young dancers work alongside current and former members of the company to create a ballet that will be performed next February at Birmingham Hippodrome.

The Chase High School pupils Amelie and Caitlin, Hereford College of Arts student Victoria, and St Paul’s Primary, Hereford, pupil Theresa are delighted to be have this opportunity to work alongside professional artists from the prestigious Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Ballet Malvern principal Rebecca Sloan-Kirton said: “I’m incredibly proud that Amelie, Caitlin, Victoria and Theresa have been selected to take part in this wonderful production.

“Nearly 200 hundred talented young dancers were at the audition and so we knew that if the Ballet Malvern girls were going to be selected then they’d really have to shine. We are beyond thrilled and incredibly proud that they were singled out by the company and invited to create this special show.”

Caitlin said: “We are all so excited to have been picked to be in this show. Dancing alongside BRB dancers is a dream come true for us. We feel really honoured to have been selected.”

Rebecca Brookes, schools engagement officer at Birmingham Royal Ballet said: “We’re really looking forward to working with these young dancers and offering them an insight into the workings of a professional ballet company.”
