KEEN snappers from in and around Malvern rose to the challenge when the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty authority launched its photo competition earlier this year.

The competition, supported by Malvern Imaging and the Beacon Camera Club, attracted over 120 entries.

The judges were Ian Thompson from the club, Peter Smith of the Autumn in Malvern Festival, and Paul Esrich, the AONB unit manager.

Sarah Jones of the AONB said: "We've been overwhelmed by the response to both the competition and the exhibition in Great Malvern and it's been a joy to see the area through other people's eyes. We hope to run further competitions in the future."

David Armitage, manager of the AONB, said: "It's been a great revelation to look at this well-loved landscape through the eyes of others. The quality of the entries has been truly outstanding and reflects people enjoying the beauty that surrounds us."

The winning images and other entries are currently being shown in the town's "exhibition walk" in Church Walk and alongside Waitrose.
