UPTON residents banded together to reunite a woman and her dog, after she spent the entire night searching for it.

Becky Jones, from Bristol, lost Grace on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29 after a firework display in the town.

Residents shared the woman's appeal across Facebook and luckily a couple spotted the Lurcher and got in touch.

Ms Jones said: "Thank you again from the bottom of my heart to everyone who helped reunite me with Grace on Monday.

"You all took time out of your bank holiday to help a person you've never met before.

"Words can't describe how happy you've made me. Grace is feeling more like herself after sleeping all day yesterday."

The local couple which found the dog contacted Ms Jones when she was about to return to Bristol.

"They were also kind enough to give Grace some steak and make me and my mum a cup of tea with biscuits," she said.

The couple spotted the dog running through a field next to Stratford Bridge, according to Cllr Rosemary Webb.

Cllr Webb said: “After a long hard day of phone calls and emails, I got a text from Becky.

“It was three of the best words I’ve ever had. It said, I've got her. I almost cried. She’s such a sweet young girl.”

Ms Jones thanked members of the online Upton Parish Notice Board for helping her to find Grace.

"It's without a doubt I would have never found her again without this lovely group and you amazing people," she said.

Residents searched fields with Ms Jones, contacted the police, a dog warden; and even got the appeal onto the radio.

Ms Jones said Grace would be bouncing back around again by tomorrow.
