MEN and women in Worcestershire are being urged to Give Up Clothes for Good as part of a nationwide campaign by TK Maxx.

Since 2004, the store has raised £13.5million for Cancer Research UK as part of the campaign which sees people drop off their unwanted clothing, accessories and quality homeware in the special boxes provided in TK Maxx stores, with each bag worth up to £30.

Paula Young, spokesman for Worcestershire branch of the charity, said this year was the first year the campaign would run all year round.

She said: “Unwanted clothes really could save more lives which is why we’re asking people to give what they can. All you need to do is fill up a bag and drop it into any TK Maxx store."

Around 130 children and young people in the West Midlands and Worcestershire are diagnosed with cancer each year, and the store in High Street, in Worcester City Centre is aiming at helping cure four out of four children instead of the current three out of four.

Donation bags and Gift Aid forms are available from TK Maxx stores but any bag – big or small will do.

The items donated will be sold in Cancer Research UK shops to raise valuable funds for vital research into children’s cancers.

Cancer Research UK receives no government funding and for more information on the campaign or how to help, visit tkmaxx.com.
