The Hunt-class mine hunter ship's company yesterday enjoyed a friendly football match against Ledbury Swifts and a reception at the Royal British Legion in Church Street.

Today the crew lined up at the Community Centre, Lawnside Road, to exercise its freedom for only the third time since the honour was bestowed in 2007.

Mayor of Ledbury Terry Widdows and the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Lady Darnley, took the salute as the parade marched with drums beating, bayonets fixed and colours flying via Bye Street to the High Street.

courtesycall says...

Not being on twitter or text-able, I have emailed 2 photos to the news editor which I hope will be published. One shows an HMS Ledbury officer flanked by two crew and holding the framed Freedom of Ledbury certificate; the other is of Lady Darnley, Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, during her inspection, talking/walking with Lt Cdr Pressdee?, Ledbury's mayor, Terry Widows is walking behind them.
